On May 3, 2020 a session was held with the secretary of Ward 31 and residents of Aloknagar regarding the usage of the app “Nepal COVID-19 Surveillance System”. Mr. Bhushan Raj Shrestha had the opinion that people coming from other districts or country should use this app to get registered and regular update about their health status for 14 days. Such person’s health situation will be monitored by the doctors online in the system.
This will help the person as well as the community to ensure they do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If in case they are found to be showing the symptoms, they will be taken to the designated hospital nearest to them for test. This will help to control the possibility of spread of COVID-19 in the community and testing and health care service required for people with the symptoms of COVID-19.
He explained the advantages of this application by displaying the dashboard and demonstrating how the patients could communicate with the doctors virtually and receive suggestions from them. The secretary was informed regarding the unplanned situations that might happen after the end of lockdown.
The ward secretary was willing to promote the app to the residents of ward no. 31 via leaflets. He also suggested about adding a parameter that includes information of the citizens traveling from one district to another. All in all, the secretary was very impressed with the initiative of the system and the session ended on a positive note.
